TMS for Depression

Living with depression can feel like a constant battle, especially when medications have not worked. At Integrative Psychiatry, we offer NeuroStar TMS therapy as a powerful alternative for patients struggling with major depressive disorder (MDD).

TMS is FDA-cleared and backed by strong clinical research showing it helps patients achieve remission, not just temporary relief.

How TMS Works for Depression

TMS uses focused magnetic pulses to activate the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, a region of the brain shown to be underactive in people with depression. By stimulating this area, TMS helps restore healthy brain activity- leading to improved mood, energy, and focus over time.

Sessions are:

  • About 19–37 minutes

  • Completed 5 days a week for 6–8 weeks

  • Done in-office with no downtime

Clinically Proven Results

NeuroStar’s outcomes have been studied in real world clinical settings, not just research labs. Here is what patients experience:

  • Remission in 1 out of 3 patients with treatment-resistant depression

  • Symptom relief in 83% of patients who completed the full NeuroStar protocol

  • Many patients experience long-lasting results after one course of treatment

These numbers come from the world’s largest registry of depression treatment outcomes (NeuroStar Outcomes Registry, 2021).

Adolescent Indications for Use

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is indicated as an adjunct for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adolescent patients (15-21).

Important Safety Information

NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is only available by prescription. A doctor can help decide if NeuroStar Advanced Therapy is right for you. Patients’ results may vary.

The most common side effect is pain or discomfort at or near the treatment site. These events are transient; they occur during the TMS treatment course and do not occur for most patients after the first week of treatment. There is a rare risk of seizure associated with the use of TMS therapy (<0.1% per patient).
